I wish to invite applications from members in An Post interested in taking up a position as a CWU Regional Officer. Reporting to the General Secretary, and working collaboratively with the Head Office team, the successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of professional support to Union Branches and members at Regional level, to include:
- Advise and support the Postal Branch Structure on matters such as collective agreements, employment law, Health & Safety and Union policy.
- Support CWU Head Office in dealing with the company change agenda and the arising staff impacts, collectively and on an individual basis.
- Process Grievance & Disciplinary cases.
- Support Postal Branch Structure and work with CWU HQ to meet learning and development needs and promote trade union activism and representation.
- Visit each Branch in their area at least once a year to ensure effective organisation/administration of the Union’s Structure.
- Drive Union membership by ensuring that all Postal workers become members of the CWU.
- Attend meetings with An Post Regional/HQ Management, as required.
- Attend Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings, as required.
- Ensure all personal data received is stored securely and only retained for as long as necessary.
Ideally, the successful candidate should have a CWU background, proven track record of achievement and credibility in the area of industrial relations and demonstrable evidence of being capable of delivering the following key competencies:
- Comprehensive understanding of CWU Rules, An Post/CWU Agreements together with knowledge of the agreed An Post Grievance & Disciplinary Procedures, and an understanding of the employment law that underpins these agreements and procedures.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, proficient in compiling written reports, correspondence and presentations.
- Effective communication/problem solving skills and proven ability to work with Branch/Management personnel.
- Understanding of CWU/An Post Transformation and Change Agreements.
