As previously advised in GS Circular 03/21 the National Executive Council have concluded their deliberations and have agreed the procedure for the filling of the position of General Secretary.

Dear Colleagues,
The National Executive Council wishes to invite applications from Communications Workers’ Union “In Benefit” members for the position of General Secretary of the Communications Workers’ Union (CWU).
The CWU is Ireland’s premier union for postal, logistics, telecoms and call centre workers. Our Union is an organising union, that prospers through excellence in service and commitment to recruitment, whilst being innovative in our responses to change by being progressive in our outlook and determined in our efforts to always act in the best interests of the Union and its members. The CWU will, in solidarity with other like-minded organisations, campaign for economic and social justice, for freedom of association and respect for human rights and dignity of all who suffer from oppression or prejudice, whatever its form.
The CWU wishes to invite applications, from “In Benefit” members of the CWU, for this highly challenging national position from talented and experienced practitioners of employee representation.
Working closely with the National Executive Council of the CWU, the successful candidate will play a central role in formulating and implementing strategies for our Union. This work will include effective worker representation with employers, engagement with policy makers and promotion of our Union.
An individual with highly developed skills, a track record of achievement and credibility in the area of industrial relations, the successful candidate will be capable of demonstrating a deep appreciation and analysis of the challenges facing this modern Union and the industrial sectors it represents.
Salary and benefits package will be commensurate with appointment.
