GSG 29-24 Respect at Work Campaign Vote Workers’ Rights
29/November/2024
Description
In this General Election, the Communications Workers’ Union is encouraging members to ‘Vote Workers’ Rights’.
In recent weeks the Respect at Work campaign, a grassroots effort by union activists in every part of Ireland, has seen almost 250 candidates from across the political spectrum sign the Respect at Work pledge.
The pledge commits politicians to strengthening workers’ rights by promoting collective bargaining, protecting workplace representatives and ensuring access to trade unions. Getting 250 candidates to support this campaign is a landmark achievement – and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Now, we need to ensure the election of as many candidates as possible who are committed to legislative change to support workers and their unions. How any member casts their vote on Friday is a matter for themselves but as trade union members, I think it is important that you know who supported your campaign.
You can view the list by clicking here or by visiting www.respectatwork.ie/pledge. The list is being updated live, as more candidates commit to workers’ rights.
It includes multiple candidates in every one of the 43 Dáil constituencies, with signatories from a range of parties and independents. To make an informed decision I encourage members to consult this list before they cast their vote on Friday. After this General Election, we must ensure that workers’ voices are heard.
The best way to do that is to vote for a workers’ rights candidate on November 29th.
