GSP 16-24 Regional Officers

02/August/2024

Description

You will be aware from GS Circular 05/24, the Union invited applications from members in An Post interested in taking up a position as a CWU Regional Officer.

At the Biennial Conference in Galway, we said farewell to Jarlath Heneghan, who retired in June. More recently, Bill Colfer announced his decision to also retire, with his final date of service in early August.

Both have given sterling service to An Post and CWU in their various roles as Partnership Co-Ordinator’s, Branch Officers and National Executive Council members. In recent times, as CWU Regional Officers, they have provided outstanding support and guidance to Branches and Head Office.  On your behalf I extend the Union’s deep appreciation to them, wishing Bill and Jarlath our very best wishes for a long and healthy retirement.

An Post has agreed to continue to support the provision of this resource to CWU headquarters. Both vacancies will now be filled subject to a joint review of the operational structure and the role and responsibilities of the Regional Officers. The Union wishes to acknowledge the Company’s support for these roles, which enables us to underpin the work of the Branches, by providing guidance and assistance to them at a Regional level, particularly on the implementation of agreed changes.

Following a comprehensive assessment and interview process, the successful candidates Paul Kennedy and Adrian Scanlon were endorsed by the Postal Courier Sectoral Executive at its recent meeting. I wish Paul and Adrian the very best in their new role and have every confidence in their proven ability to successfully navigate the challenges ahead.

I will revert to you separately regarding their commencement date and revised regional structure.

Please bring this circular to the attention of all members in An Post.
