Description
You will be aware from previous correspondence and report to the CWU Biennial Conference in May, the Group of Unions at An Post has engaged in direct discussions with the Company, with a view to addressing the widening gap between base pay and pensionable pay. Provision for the review is contained in the pay agreement, concluded with the assistance of the Workplace Relations Commission.
Discussions in relation to this have been ongoing for some time with good progress made on a range of issues. However, in order to finalise agreement, we agreed to seek the further assistance of the WRC.
While further progress was achieved on the outstanding issues at the WRC, it was not possible to conclude agreement. In such circumstances it was jointly agreed to refer the disagreed issues to the Labour Court. The issues for resolution are:
- Restoration of Pensionable Pay
- Company contribution
- State Pension offset
An early hearing of the Labour Court has been requested and I will revert to you further with any developments.
